This 2-day tour combines the essential highlights of Shanghai with a relaxing escape to Zhujiajiao Ancient Water Town, often called the “Venice of Shanghai”.
Day 1 focuses on the city’s classics: a top museum, a classical Chinese garden, the historic Bund, and the futuristic skyline viewed from a skyscraper observatory.
Day 2 slows the pace in Zhujiajiao, where stone bridges, narrow canals, traditional white-walled houses and local snacks reveal the poetic side of Jiangnan life.
Designed for international travellers who want both city energy and old-China charm within a short stay, with private guide, private vehicle and flexible pacing.

| Highlights | Chinese art & history · Classical Chinese garden · Old town bazaar · Nanjing Road · The Bund waterfront · Futuristic skyline from Shanghai Tower |
| Details | Morning — History & Culture Meet your English-speaking guide in the hotel lobby (or arrival point). Start the day at Shanghai Museum, one of China’s finest museums, to see bronzes, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy and minority art. This is a gentle cultural introduction to China’s 5,000-year civilisation. Walk around People’s Square, the modern civic centre of Shanghai, surrounded by theatres, museums and urban greenery. Midday — Classical Garden & Old Streets Head to Yu Garden, a classic Ming-dynasty private garden with ponds, rockeries, carved windows and elegant halls. Then wander through Yuyuan Bazaar / Old Town, where traditional facades, teahouses, snack stalls and souvenir shops create a lively "old Shanghai" atmosphere. This is a great place to try local snacks such as soup dumplings, wontons, or pan-fried buns. Afternoon — City Vibe & Skyline Continue to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, Shanghai’s most famous shopping street. Feel the pulse of the modern city, with big brands, local shops and crowds of both locals and visitors. Walk to The Bund, the legendary riverside promenade lined with early-20th-century buildings. On one side you see grand European-style façades; on the other side, across the Huangpu River, the futuristic Pudong skyline — it’s the classic "old vs new" Shanghai contrast. Cross the river by vehicle to Lujiazui, the financial district packed with high-rise towers. Visit Shanghai Tower (or similar observatory) and ride up to the observation deck for a 360° view of the entire city and the winding Huangpu River below. Evening (Optional) If you wish, we can help arrange a Huangpu River night cruise (optional, extra cost) before returning to your hotel. |

| Route | Shanghai → Zhujiajiao Water Town → Shanghai |
| Highlights | Ancient canals & stone bridges · White-washed Jiangnan houses · Local snacks & handicrafts · Optional boat ride on waterways |
| Details | Morning - Drive to Zhujiajiao After breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel and drive about 50-60 minutes to Zhujiajiao Water Town, one of the most famous ancient water towns in the greater Shanghai area. Late Morning - Old Streets & Bridges Begin your walking tour along the main old street and narrow side alleys. See traditional white-walled, grey-tiled houses, local temples and small shops. Walk over some of Zhujiajiao's many stone bridges, including the famous multi-arch bridge, and enjoy views of canals, boats and riverside life. Midday - Lunch by the Canal Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, tasting Jiangnan-style dishes and/or simple family cooking. You can choose to sit by the canal if weather permits, for a relaxed water-town atmosphere. Afternoon - Boat Ride & Free Time Take an optional boat ride along the canals (highly recommended). Drifting under low stone bridges and past riverside houses is one of the best ways to experience the town's charm. Afterwards, you have some free time to explore at your own pace: browse small handicraft shops, sample snacks (rice cakes, local sweets, etc.), take photos of old doors, lanterns and reflections on the water. Return to Shanghai In the late afternoon, meet your guide and driver for the return journey to Shanghai. You will be dropped off at your hotel, airport or train station depending on your onward travel plans. |
